Wow… I have been behind with my blogging.
Well here is a little video my sister, Erika 7yrs old, and I put together.
ENJOY!

I created my first tweet on August 31th, 2010: “Internet Marketing where you at?” because we were told to make a twitter for my Internet Marketing class.  Every week we were suppose to tweet several tweets just to get the hang of it.

Honestly I did not really see the benefit or reason to tweet. “WHY?! I mean, I already have a facebook…” I heard from some of my friends who live in bigger cities that it was a great social tool and they “don’t know how they lived without it before”.  But I still had a hard time connecting the dots.  People would come up to me and say, “you know twitter is losing followers everyday! They have like a couple million that create accounts and then are not active, because it’s stupid”. My response to them now is…. YOU JUST DON’T KNOW! Twitter is an awesome connection device!

Facebook is great for scrolling and boredom, but twitter is real-time data streaming. The secrets with twitter is you focus on the data that is just released. If you are “retweeting” (means you repost what someone else posted) information from an hour ago… you. are. to. late. With Facebook you can comment on a Picture or post that someone had up several months ago and it doesn’t mean a thing. “I forgot about this! yeah that was a fun vacation. And yes I have lost weight since then!” (sorry, got off topic for a minute)

Stay recent means you will stay up-to-date. News hits twitter first! Whether that is Rebecca Black‘s “hit” single Friday or the fact that John Ensign is stepping down from the Senate it is all current NEWS!

John Ensign

Recently I have become a tweetaholic (urbandictionary).  We are talking, “Hi, I am Josh and I am a tweetaholic”, style.  Or a pack of 30 tweets a day, give or take a few.  Since then my following has BOOMED! Last three days along I have jumped from 90 followers to now 128! I know it’s a small start, but I think I’m doing something right.

Tips:

*Tweet things that are trending IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THEM! (people tweet trending topics and have nothing to say)

*Follow things you are interested in… (news, media, hobbies, etc.) Then feel free to comment/retweet them.

*and now #donthashtageverthingthatyoutweet. #itisannoyingandveryunnecessary. #GOTIT!

*…but you can use #hashtags to add to your tweets. Either hash the tweet subjects or your thoughts from your tweets.

@example: “Hahaha my friend just tripped #evillaugh” or “Alaskan brown bear had cubs @chicagozoo #zoonews”

Hopefully these #tweettips will get you well on your way to being the next tweetninja. First step follow me! @therealdjmagik

When learning about social media sometimes I feel like the activity can be somewhat daunting. Questions and thoughts like: “where am I right now with this article?”, “I think I am in way over my head…”, “maybe I should just stop” begin to slowly creep into your mind. DON’T GIVE UP! You are not alone.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel. After you finish an article and look over your notes (hopefully you have some), you can walk away with a little more knowledge about your researched topic.
Thoughts of topics to learn about first: page rankings, apps with Social sites, anything Mashable

New Webpage!

Posted: November 2, 2010 in DJ, Music

I have been spending sometime in class developing a webpage. The final project is still to come.  What do you think? Ideas for color schemes?

Check it out! Give me some feedback!

Flaming Amy’s Burrito Barn has been a very beloved place for me.  I have been here many times! The out side of the building has a far out slight resemblance of a barn.  But along the walk inside the magic starts to happen. The edgy atmosphere of the place makes it become more than a burrito place.  There is memorabilia all over the walls. Pictures and fun things to look at while you wait, because if you go during rush… you will wait.  As you get closer and the murmurs of the crowd gets louder with anticipation you can see some parts of the menu written across the wall.  The wall as many different sayings like “leave your attitude at the door” or “attitude free, good service costs extra”.

By the time you reach the cash register, the gate-keeper of ordering, there are about 7 or 8 choices of burritos that are lit up along the back wall.  “Double bacon cheese burgitto” has to be my favorite.  Very dangerous for the heart, arteries and such; but man is it delicious! The secret sauce that has been protected for centuries, also known as “thousand island”, this sauce brings the whole burrito together in perfect delicious harmony that excites and calms the taste buds at the same time.

There are many other choices that can entertain and satisfy any customer. Vegetarian, “tortilla-less”, meat-lovers, anything a little heart could desire.  So next time you are wanting that fun, exciting experience head to Flamin’ Amy’s!

I normally wouldn’t do this, but I am going to anyway… read the following:

Deluxe:  ”Best in Wilmington!”, “Most Romantic”, “Best waitstaff”, etc.

Go to their website and you can read more of their “reviews” and rewards that they have received.

Honestly, I do not know how they have received these different rewards.  They did have an excellent waitstaff I will give them that, but the rest seem a little bias.  The food here is very good, however, it is not as good as is raved about.  For a dinner for two I walked out spending over $90.  One glass of wine each and split entree.  I was completely prepared to spend that much, but I thought that the food should match or exceed the dollar amount in value.  My date and I had some Calamari as an appetizer.  The Calamari was very good.  Lightly battered and fried the chewiness had a very good compliment of crunchiness.  Plus the Chef’s sauce that came with the Calamari was very sweet and tasty.

Then to our entrees: Soft shell crab.  Very good, not exceptional.  The food was tasty, but it was prepared as I would expect it be prepared.  I do not mean to sound snubby, I just feel like if I am going to spend a high dollar amount on a meal and it has been considered “best in wilmington” the food needs to be exceptionally delicious.  It should be so good that I do not pay as much attention to the dollar amount I just spent, while I am leaving my check.  I could be wrong, but I thought that was the goal fine dining restaurants strive for.

Wine was good, but wine is wine.

Overall, I would say that if this place lowered its dollar amount, they would have a lot more cliental.  It is nice, but even the artwork is not very fitting. The atmosphere reminds me of some nicer cafes that I would frequently visit in Chicago, but not “best in Wilmington”.

Riverboat Landing has the location! Nestled on the corner of the end of market street and Water St.  It is in plain view of the old historic water fountain, and on most nights the horse-drawn tour guide has several horses parked a few yards away.  On the water side of the restaurant there are little 2 person seating booths that are on the second floor. These alone are worth an hour wait.  These booths look over the river walk, you have a clear view of the battleship, and the river lazily seems to drift by.  During this particular visit my date (Sara) and I were just wanting to get a couple of drinks and some appetizers.  We ordered the flatbread Scampi and Arancini, which were mushroom fritters.   The Arancini was extremely delicious, they were prepared to perfection.  The plate comes out looking very elegantly and then when one of these round luxurious lumps of lightly fried cheese and diced mushroom is cut into the sweet aroma and steam pours out.  To compliment the fritter the restaurant lets the fritter simmer in this sauce of tomato base, but with a few sweeter tastes thrown in.

The disappointed fell in two areas.  The waiter that we had, Mike, rushed the order and our small table was crammed full of plates.  I would have liked to stay and sit longer, but the second disappointment kicked in.  The Scampi flatbread, tasted rather plain.  Neither Sara, my date, or myself were impressed with the taste.  I then regretfully dismissed Sara’s comment about the shrimp not tasting quiet right.  Finishing most of that flatbread soon became my worst nightmare.  We had to hurry out of the restaurant, because I was beginning to feel ill.  The rest of that night and some of the next morning continued with some of the most agonizing pain I have felt in a long time.  The undercooked shrimp cause me to have some of the worst food poisoning.  Needless to say that was our last encounter with the Riverboat Landing.  I did call the manager, Paul. He was extremely proactive and reassured me that he was going to compensate us for mine and Sara’s (oh did I mention she also had some stomach pain) discomfort.  He also stated that the whole shipment of shrimp was going to be thrown out.

Overall I would recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere and location are wonderful. I would stay away from the shrimp and request to not have Mike as your waiter :-)
